Drying out

It is remarkable how a hurricane can force water into the tiniest hole and get stuff wet.  We found a little water around the hatches and in the storage locker in the cockpit.  Of course with 60+mph gusts for two days I guess it would find a way in.  We first pulled out all the wet stuff so it could dry, then inspected the areas to understand why this happened. 

We had made covers for the hatches and the cord used to secure them allowed water to drip by the sealing gasket.  That was easy.

The locker was a little more difficult to inspect. Someone had to go inside.  Where's those grand daughters when you need them, OK they're too young.  So here is Granpa squeezing into the little locker.

Well that was interesting, a big vent on the port side without any means to stop the wind from driving 8 inches of rain into the locker.









Seeing that we needed a cover, Grammy Lou got the sewing machine out and stitched a cover from left over bimini materials to keep the next storm from flooding the locker. 

After two days of drying, we organized the contents of the locker and piled it back in.  Would you believe there is some room left.

Now we have to decide what we would buy to fill the void, ha ha ha ha.










We should be able to weather the next storm better.
